Erendida National ContextPeople in the U.S are always suffering from eating disorders. It’s estimated that 8 million have an eating disorder in America. 7 million are women and only 1 million are man. 1 out of 200 women in America suffers from anorexic and 2-3 in 100 women in America suffer from bulimia. It’s estimated that 10-15% of people with bulimia or anorexia are males. Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of anything mental illness. People that have an eating disorder have a high chance to die from heart problems. Anorexia is the 3rd most common illness among adolescent. 95% of people that have an eating disorder are between 12 and 25. 50% of girls that are 11 and 13 years old see themselves as overweight. 80% of teens that are 13 years old have tried to lose weight. Eating disorders have attack a lot of people and it target are teens. And a lot of people that have an eating disorder don’t know that they have an eating disorder. Only 1 person in 10 people with eating disorder goes for help. 80% of women who have accessed of care for their eating disorder don’t go to have any treatment. Most people that suffer from eating disorders are young, wealthy, Caucasian women but its also seen on every race of the world and its mostly seen on famous people. A lot of were this happen is in Hollywood considering that there are lot of stars and is know for a fact that famous people from Hollywood wants to look beautiful. And as well they think that by being thin they would be beautiful. There are lot of famous people that had this illness like Lady Gaga and another famous actress from Mexico Anahi. Lady Gaga have always had anorexia and bulimia since she was 15 and she posted pictures of her before her eating disorder and during her recovery at her website “little monster gaga.” When Anahi worked in RBD she had a lot of pressure to maintain a certain beauty standard while working in the entertainment industry. Anahi weighed as little as 77 pounds and that was when her heart stop for like 10 seconds and that is when she realized that she need to need help and that if she didn’t get any she would die. Its hard to have an exact number on the amount of people that are affected of eating disorders, as number vary between 150,000 to more than 600,000 across Canada. For example there is one in Arizona in a town call Wickenburg 1E apache St. Wickenburg, AZ 85390 to speak to Counselor call at 866-390-5100. This place was found by Remuda Ranch this place help women and girls with eating disorders. This was found when she experience having a daughter with anorexia. At first Remunda stared with a handful of patients and staff, but as the number of eating disorders grew more so did that the place. Today they treat women, teens and children with Anorexia, Bulimia, and related issues but they also help they help people that are overweight. There is another one call Rosewood Ranch for Adolescents at 3607 s. Rincon Road. Rosewood Ranch offers treatment for males and females of ages from 12-17 with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating, overeating and other related issues. Global and national context are somewhat different. They are different because global is around the world and is works with what happens all over the world. And national is what happens only in the nation. National only focus on the nation. Karina National ContextEating disorders impact the United States because many people suffer from this mental illness in many different countries. Many deaths occur each year with people that suffer from this condition. Each death is a loved one from a family. Families break apart and are never the same or complete. Whether it is an adolescent, boy or girl that goes to school or work and died; they played a big role in society. They help society keep going like in industries. They keep society moving forward. They better the society as in the economy. If they are going to school they are the future of tomorrow, the change of tomorrow. “......the amount of people affected by eating disorders, as numbers vary between 150,000 to more than 600,000 across Canada.” (CTV News,2013). This is hurting society, this issue makes it impossible for society to advance. Future, tomorrows generations are decreasing meaning less population inhabiting the world. “.....Doctors say there are two-to-three times more cases than a generation ago.” (CTV News,2013) . Doctors are specializing in helping adolescents treat eating disorders. Doctors specialize in eating disorder programs. For example Eating Disorders Program at Toronto General Hospital, and London Health Sciences Centre in London, Ont is also helping kids and adolescents with all types of eating disorders. They provide mental health. ....…”we provide mental health care.” (CTV News, 2013) National Context is linked to Global text by both helping out, one informs people and the other treats people. Both seek out in helping the person psychologically and nutritionally.Both understand eating disorders and its effects on people and society. They are different in the way they help out. Global informs and national acts more. Lastly, National context makes programs to give treatment to adolescents while global context informs, publishes articles,websites, and magazines.
