In East and Southern Asia eating disorders have been identified in China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan. But southern Asia is not the only place that their eating disorders this illness also attack Africa. In Nigeria a women of 22 years old was reported with anorexia in 1981. Later in 10 years a study of females found that the binge eating, vomiting, and laxative abuse are common, thought the prevalence of full-syndrome bulimia nervosa was not assessed. Eating disorders also attacked Latin America and The Caribbean. In Chile there were 30 case reported of eating disorders by Putmarino and Vivanco. As we can see eating disorders have attack a lot of places and the worst part is that it’s still happing. Eating Disorders. (n.d.). NIMH RSS. Retrieved May 2, 2014, from http://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/publications/eating-disorders/index.shtml Another topics that I can think of that might interconnected with my topic is popularity. Teens want to fit in school and they want boys or girls to like them and they think that is they were to be thin they would be beautiful and they would be poplar. Also this goes on teens hating themselves, they feel that they are ugly because all over the place they see thin people and they find them beautiful and when they look at their body they think that the only way that they be like them and beautiful like them is to be thin. And when they see that they don’t lose weight so easy they do things that they should not do. That is when teens become anorexic and become bulimia. This also goes to childhood obesity. A lot of kids are over weight and thy get bully a lot, and they feel bad and they want to lose weight and sometimes they lose weight in a bad way and the unhealthy and that is how they become anorexic or bulimia nervosa. Karina Global ContextEating disorders presents itself across the globe by occurring in every part of the world. It affects every part of the world from the smallest town to the biggest city. In every part of the world there's teens suffering, either starving or overeating because of the Eating Disorder that has taken over their mind and body. Eating disorder is like a demon when it becomes an extreme problem, the person no longer has control of their body nor what he/she sees in that mirror. It becomes uncontrollable and a problem they live for the rest of their life if they don’t look out for help. As years go by eating disorder cases increase. People from each part of the world who has this disorder is judged because of their physical. When eating disorders is advanced in the person’s physical is complex to get the person out of that state of mind and fix their health. Some end up dying.
Eating DIsorders can be solved at a global level. The first step is to inform people and aware them of this issue. We can make it visible in newspapers and magazines that way people bother to see and will catch their attention. This issue has to be in the media and internet, more information on this issue. In order for this issue to spread globally it has to be informed by people who are willing to help society. People have to find interest and be passionate towards this issue. We all have to be conscious that people with this disorder need help, psychological and nutritional classes on what is a healthy to eat and on how to eat. We have to extend our hand to those who need it but before we do we need to be informed and aware of this issue. We need to know it is not easy for the person going through this situation. I think some issues that might be interconnected with my issue eating disorders might be self-steem and also obesity. Self -esteem is a factor that leads people to fall in the trap of eating disorders. People, especially adolescents fall into the category of feeling outcasted from popular groups in school. At that point they are unconformed of themselves, dislike their personality and body. Or they either eat and eat to feel happy within themselves, and hide the emotions they feel. In both cases they eat fast and uncontrollable without tasting the food. Those with Anorexia and Bulimia eat less, don’t eat, or eat and then vomit to get the ideal body to fit in the crowd. They eat as if it was an eating contest. As well they eat large amounts of food. That’s when the issue begins affecting their life in some cases permanently. They are below weight or either above weight. |
