Social Justice Philosophy Karina
Social Justice is the fighting over an injustice. Seeking to fight and win over the injustice in a Societal problem. For example, issues such as the injustice of executing an innocent person over a crime not committed by him/her is injustice. This issue has happened for decades up until now and to solve this injustice lawyers have been called into action. I see discrimination is an injustice issue. Discrimination is a worldwide issue, it has been going around for many centuries that still go up until today. A Social Justice issue that has impacted my life is when LVLHS was fought for to get built. There was only two neighborhood Schools; Farragut and Kelly both of them were packed and they weren’t that near. Therefore, people from the community fought and went on a Hunger Strike to get the school. After all the protests and after the Hunger Strike we got our High School. Today it’s the school kids from my neighborhood and I attend to. This definition has changed over time from what I knew to what I know today. Perhaps in the past I would only hear about the issues and today I now stand up to be heard of the injustice in our society. Yet today we haven’t achieved our social justice because some people are against us. There you have Martin Luther King Jr. who was shot for standing up for the injustice, the inequality of black and white. He was fighting for the boundaries, and unequal rights of black and whites. Today one of the current obstacles in society over the undocumented people are the Republicans. They are segregating us because we weren’t born in the U.S. We are not given the same rights after we have been working for this country and made our best to succeed in life. Another societal issue I learned in throughout in high school is that of exploitation. I learned that in Africa people are taken advantage in the work of digging for gold and diamonds. The profit earnings made from this natural resources are not even 25% given to the workers. They are given 1-2%, and they have a family to sustain and needs to buy.An example of my life would be that when I was a freshman, three years ago their was a job offered at autoshow to JROTC. Unfortunately it was only for those who had a social security, I didn’t meet that criteria so I was unable to join. It was very unfair because just a number that I didn’t have because I was undocumented. It pretty much limited my opportunities and it sucked. An example from my class would be when a video of the injustice terrorists were making in Pakistan. Terrorists were bombarding, killing, slaughtering, and raping people. They prohibited kids from going to school and killed many people. Education was not allowed not because the people didn’t want to but because the terrorists who came to invade Pakistan were intimidating them. “We must struggle together as brothers and sisters or perish as fools!” This quote talks about being united, working together to make it through. It takes more than one to complete goal. Throughout life society is going to become better because people will no longer be ignorant and they will stand up for Justice. Obama is an example of the issue and injustice of undocumented people. He gave young people the social security and permit to work for two years. My experience in Justice has been very debateful and pretty much unfair. People disagree and are against me. My fire is Eating Disorders. This is a very strong issue. People who suffer from this condition have been influenced and affected by many factors. Some factors they either starve themselves or overeat a lot. My career will reflect in social justice because I will look out for peoples’ self-esteem, I will make sure they feel confident and happy about themselves. Also as a Chef I will make healthy food, peoplewill not only taste and see the good in the food. They will also see it in their body and be happy within themselves.
